Committed suicide

Suicide is the taking of one’s own life and a severe sign of mental illness. To say one “commited suicide” suggests blame. It further suggests that there was a choice in a similar token in choosing to commit a crime. Rather many people that pass way by suicide have stuggled with mental health issues and are victims of trauma. Hence, we must use language that deters for this narrative of placing blame on a suicide victim. Other alternative phrases that can be used is “lost by suicide” or “having suicidal ideation.”
