Just as you wouldn’t call all English-speakers “English,” it makes just as little sense to call all Spanish-speakers “Spanish.” The term Spanish used as an adjective should only be used to describe people from Spain, just as English is only used to describe people from England. All other Spanish-speakers fall into different categories. For example, all Spanish-speakers are hispanic. People from Latin American countries can be called Latinos, although this also includes non-Spanish speakers, including people from Brazil.
