Spic has long been a degrading term used mostly to describe people of Hispanic or Latin descent. The word has a long, debated history, but likely originated to describe people of Central or South American descent. The word has evolved to become a degrading and hateful racial slur based on nothing more than skin color and descent. This word is dehumanizing and portrays Hipsanic or Latin people as unwelcome, dirty, etc. Using words like spic and Wetback, among others, is offensive, hurtful, and unacceptable.
